Language Arts Reflection

Imagine the world if writing was never invented. The world would be different because there would be no movies or TV shows. But it’s not just the present that would be changed, most historical events involved writing. There would not have been letters to plan wars and they would be different. If there was no writing, America would probably not have been founded by England or by anyone. Technology would not be developed. The world would not be sculpted. Writing wrote the history books.
I have learned many skills in essay writing this year. Therefore, I have chosen my non-narrative piece to write about. I have learned to express my topic by creating bold statements. I have also learned ways to better prove my ideas with examples. I also learned about ways to make my writing more interesting with organization, clear topics, making connections, having a supporting conclusion, and writing with variety. I have also learned to always relate to the story and make connections. It is easier for me now to write essays.
In conclusion, I think I have improved as a writer. I am better now at using conversation in my fiction stories. I can improve on thinking of small moments to write about in my narratives which provides details for the reader. Overall, I am a better writer today than I was last year.

Here is an example of my work:
Katniss Everdeen is the main character of the Hunger Games. She lives in District 12, which is a sending district of the Hunger games. The hunger games are an annual tournament where kids are forced to kill each other. Katniss volunteers to fight instead of her sister.
Katniss wants to win the Hunger games. She wants to go back home to her family. She is a good huntress so she tries to get a bow and arrow. She is determined to win.
There are obstacles in Katniss’ way. She has to win to return to her family but she will have to kill her friend Peeta. Also, Cato is a tough fighter and he tries hard to kill Katniss and Peeta. She has to overcome these problems in order to win.
In the end, Katniss and Peeta win together because the game makers let them both win after they fell in love. The book ends when Katniss wins the games and she and Peeta became closer than in the beginning of the book.
